Netsuke are miniature sculptures that were invented in the 17th century in
Japan to serve a practical function, the Japanese characters “ne” and “tsuke” mean “root”
and “to attach”. The traditional Japanese garment/ robes called kosode and kimono had no pockets, Women would tuck small personal items into their sleeves however men who wore them needed a place to store their belongings such as pipes, tobacco or money.
This collection consist of 36 beautiful sculptures of people a buda, animals stading
1,5 to over 2inches, 6 of them are very interesting, they are called the immortels and have two revolving faces. the
whole collection is for $12,000
comes with a free rosewood display cabinet as seen on the picture, a value of
